Wide Angle Friday

Another day shooting with my Leica M9 and Summilux-M 21mm f/1.4.   I picked up some additional confidence shooting with this today.  I am glad I am ‘forcing’ myself to shooting a specific lens for a week.   I feel I am beginning to understand how to view the world with this lens and what shots and angles work best.   I didn’t have a lot of time to shoot today, only just a quick walk during a break .

My Starbucks is starting to light up again as concerns for blackouts in Tokyo cool off.

I love that Tokyo is getting more ‘no smoking’ zones.

This cat was cheering people on to donate to the earthquake victims.   There were so many groups out collecting it was a bit comical listening to all of them yell ‘yoroshiku onegaishimasu!’

Windows in my building remain damaged from the earthquake but we made it a day without aftershocks…

Thanks Darren. Did you stay there in the old or new Sun Route Hotel? They renovated it about 1.5 years ago and it is beautiful. I am sure we passed each other as I go to that Starbucks every morning.

The first few times I stayed in Tokyo my hotel was the Sunroute Plaza in Shinjuku. I usually had breakfast at that Starbucks and walked past that McDonald’s.
A friend sent me a link to your site a few days after the quakes. I really like the way you use photos to tell your story. Keep posting!

I’ve been coming to your blog for a few weeks now, checking it daily, and I’ve never been more impressed. I think you’re a great photographer, you have wonderful taste, you’re helping the world understand Japan’s new situation along with showing people the beauty of the country.

Every day I come home from work, I’m excited to see what you’ve added.

      Thank you.

Thanks for updating the blog Dave! It’s so nice to see that it’s not all gloom and doom in Japan, and that there is some normalcy in the everyday lives of the people there. I also think it’s about time that we have more of the “cuteness” in the world! I would love to see one of those frogs on my way to work in the morning!

Keep up the blog posts, Dave.

Your blog is keeping me updated with the situation in Tokyo, which seems to be perfectly normal and not what they’re saying in the news.

I’m hoping to visit Tokyo this summer and your blog is helping me to reassure that everything’s going to be ok.

      BTW, Love the pictures.
