At least I have a Gold Card so I can get fast check-ins…   I have travel so much over the years my current United Frequent Flyer balance is 805,194 miles.    This year I flew 29,658 miles.  It will be nice when I have a year I don’t make airline status.    I have trips already schedule later this year in July/August to Bangalore, Sydney, Seoul, Singapore and Beijing.  I am sure I will have others as well so this won’t be the year I don’t make it…

It makes me wonder what people are bringing on the plane with them.  Of all of the things you could list…pickles?    Really?

I always love to stop in and look at the Rolex’s.   I love these watches.  I have had a few over the years.  I am currently wearing the Rolex Milgauss (black face, clear crystal).    I love the retro look of this watch.    A lot of Rolex’s have special purposes.    This watch is designed as an antimagnetic watch so if I ever get stuck in an electromagnetic field with the rest of you, I will be the only one who knows what time it is.

No way!!! I was in Haneda like a day before you were. I wish I could have ran into you in Tokyo, and be in some candid shot here >_< But yes, Haneda is awesome.

Japan does such a great job with ‘omiyage’… the attention to detail is amazing.

Japanese snacks are the best! They’re so artistically designed and individually wrapped. And they taste great too! But they do cost quite a bit.
We have Japanese co-workers who often make trips to/from Japan so we often get treated to ‘omiyage’.

Hello Dave,

Ho chi minh cityは毎日暑いけど、とても楽しいですよ!!

ひろみさん ー ありがとう。 Vietnamはおもしろいです。 ホーチミンとダラットもいったことがあります。 またね。

It’s funny you say that David. I tell people that all the time. People are always asking me where I am going when I am off and my typical answer is I am happy to be at home…which is why I have 800K miles in my account.

You’d be surprised at the stuff people will try to bring through the airport security. My aunt told me that way back then, airport staff would allow them to bring canned food, like pickled mangoes or fish sauce so long as it’s packaged properly. Unfortunately, they probably had one experience too many where the can would pop due to pressure, so no more.

Gundam! There was an exhibit here about that last year. So many amazing model kits.

Enjoy Hong Kong. I was there on Sunday, but glad to be home in Sydney now. Strange thing when you have lots of FF miles. One does not want to use them! Just glad to stay home, and not be flying yet again.

Excellent Torb – We will know what time it is… The Lighting Bolt second hand is my favorite feature of the watch. Very unique on a Rolex.

Perry AwyongMay 18, 2011 - 1:44 am

You’re almost at 1 million miles, and once you get there, you’ll have Premier Executive status for life! I don’t think you get the same fanfare as George in “Up in the Air” though :-) I used to travel extensively for work as well, and yes, gifts for the wife is necessary. While I’m glad I don’t have to fly as much anymore, it definitely helped our fridge magnet collection.

TorbMay 18, 2011 - 1:04 am

naaah, at least one of your readers (should I say viewsers…) will know what time it is ;-)
But mine is the one with the green glass. I love this watch. The flash formed second hand (is it really called second hand? Translator says so)

Have a safe trip!
