Up again at 6am to hit the gym on the way to the office. I love working out in the morning as it makes me feel energized all day…

It quickly began to rain…

It’s going to be one of those days…

Ah…there is a Typhoon coming. I am starting to take the weather personally….Let’s review this year:
March: Magnitude 9.0 Earthquake
March: September 1,600 Aftershocks
July: Flooding while in Mumbai
August: Earthquake while in US
August: Hurricane while in Boston
August: Typhoon upon arrival back in Tokyo
Today: Typhoon

My lovely view went from ‘cloud’ to…

…white out from sheets of rain in seconds.

It was raining so hard I had to stand within the door by about 5 feet to get the shot without getting soaked.

It just kept getting worse so I hoped in the car to head home…

Lots of traffic tonight…it took forever to get home.

This was about the only damage I saw. I saw a tweet that a tree landed on a Taxi in Shibuya. I hope no one was hurt…

I stopped at the store to get some essentials if needed…

You can never be too careful…

[...] ShootTokyo for a while…natural disasters such as Earthquakes, Flash Floods, Hurricanes and Typhoons seem to have been following me around. Last time we got rained out a bit. I checked the [...]
Thanks Mart!
I thought that might have been the case, Dave. After the circus after the earthquake/tsunami that is about what I expect in North America now!
Patty – It was a pretty wild Typhoon but I was surprised to see how much media attention it was getting.
Glad you got home safely and onto dry ground Dave!
So – the media is making this typhoon out to be the next worst thing after March’s events. Saying that Tokyo was hit horribly.
I do love your rain shots!
Glad to hear you’re ok over there Dave. Saw the forecast for Roke a few days ago and thought about you.
I like the beer! Autumn beer… the memories…
Thanks for the photos! My daughter spent 6 weeks in Tokyo last summer and we now have Japanese exchange student living with us for the year. So it’s fun for me to see these great pictures of Japan!
Thanks Kate.
That’s very kind of you Martin… I am glad you like the blog. I think there are a few faithful but silent followers. I appreciate you leaving the comment. It’s nice to hear who is enjoying the site.
Rain or not you got some very interesting shots today..Stay Dry.
Hi Dave, I am a faithful , albeit a silent follower of your blog…since mid March
It is not just photography…
A cocktail of gripping documentary and prosaic detail which you masterfully serve us every day, makes your daily servings an addiction. Watch the cholesterol content of those oishiimonos !
kind regards
Martin
I can’t help admiring the guy out in his short sleeved shirt in the middle of all of this. Maybe he didn’t check the weather forecast.
Great set. I like the high level shots. I’ve never been to Tokyo yet. Need to do it.
I like the picture from your car with the green stoplights and how they appear as green swirls. Also, another one from your car behind other cars with their break lights shining through the rain drops on your windshield makes the picture look almost like a watercolor. Very nice.
Although your weather lately = the suck.
We seem to go along the same paths of destruction. Mine started with 9/11 and living in NY. Bomb in Istanbul 2 1/2 kilometers from my hotel. Riots in Athens on my Birthday Dec 3 floods in Venice alarms at 5am … Tokyo .. Christchurch and much more to fill in between those :@
