Kichijoji’s Harmonica Yokocho

I finally got a chance the other night to head over to Kichijoji’s Harmonica Yokocho.  I have wanted to here here for a while so I was happy I got the chance.   Haramonica Yokocho is a great choice if you are looking for fun place to eat and drink for a night.    In the 1940s it was an underground flea market but now a few alleys of unique bars, restaurants and shops.   It’s about 20 minutes from Shinjuku by train…

Kichijoji

This place is very friendly and packed with lots of these little bars… I hung out at this one for a little while as the group seems friendly and the atmosphere perfect for pictures…

I could have stood here shooting all night…

This was a fun place and definitely worth a trip back…

Hey Dave! I’m glad to see these yokocho photos because I work at the restaurant right next to the yakitori place!

Yokocho is definitely a good place for drinking (especially in summer!) and photo-shooting. Your trip back is always welcome. :D

[...] I love standing bars… it reminds me of Kichijoji. [...]

Hi Perry – Yes, they were all shot with my Leica. This one was shot with my 50mm .95 that it usually gives that ‘pop’ to images. It is pretty amazing lens.

This is a great set of street images.

I always enjoy seeing pictures of the ordinary people, in their usual settings, everyday life.
It’s especially interesting to compare how the life looks like on the other continent.
Thank you Dave for sharing these images! :)

Good stuff Dave!

I especially like #6. It’s simple, elegant and yet has a unique 3D like quality and micro-contrast that makes it pop. Was it shot with your Leica? It has that slight but perceptible difference from the other images.

Happy shooting!
