Farewell Naho

Farewell Naho

My M9 has been acting strange lately.  I thought it was the problem others have been having with memory cards and firmware but it turns out the motherboard is faulty so they will be replacing it.   Thankfully the great people at Leica Japan loaned me a M8 so I am still in business.  I have always wanted to shoot it so I figured this is a good opportunity.   I’ll try to do a write up on the M8 while I have it.

Leica M8

One of my coworkers is moving from Japan to the US at the end of the month so decided to have a Farewell Party for her, or Sayonarakai.   We went to one of my newest favorite places Gompachi.    The atmosphere is excellent here and it is very reasonably priced.    This placed was replicated in the movie ‘Kill Bill’…

Meet Naho…

Meet Tomoko…

Meet Uchi…

Meet Chikako…

Meet Chiko…

Meet Nori, aka Wari…

Meet Sumita…

Meet Nana…

I have a great group of co-workers that make work at lot of fun…

Nana had her very cool new Sony Camera…

Uchi is struggling of what do with her ‘smart phone’ after Naho leaves… (as she doesn’t know how to use it without her).

My favoriate way to close at Gonpachi….yakionigiri!

It was a ton of fun and we will all miss working with Naho on a daily basis…

Thanks for stopping by today…

  1. That’s a really nice set of farewell gathering portraits, what a nice gift for her too!

  2. Dave, nice shots with the “loaner” M8. With the cost one invests in a Leica system, it’s nice to see that they can provide a loaner camera when you come in for servicing, much like a car dealership (a system costs as much as many cars!). Looking forward to your write-up on the M8. Any reason why you shot in B&W this time out?

Looks like you were using flash on the portrait shots. I just bought my first flash (SB-700 for my D7000) and will be using it to shoot my friend’s baby 1st b-day party next weekend. Do you have any on-camera flash tips when shooting events/parties like you did here? Thanks.

  3. Very good looking team and a very good shot of you, Dave.

  4. Aww that’s a nice farewell party, she’ll always remember it :)

I have been to this restaurant before, the food is nice so does the atmosphere :D
