Myoshinji Temple
On to Myoshinji Temple... One observation I had from my trip to Kyoto is there isn't nearly enough mirrors or cones... It almost doesn't feel like Japan. I believe there are actually ordinances that limit which colors you can use in Kyoto to keep the historical look and feel that Kyoto has. I tried to research it a bit but it was difficult to find information on it. Perhaps this will need to go into my upcoming dissertation on cones in Japan. Today’s configuration: Leica M6 with various Leica lenses shot on Kodak Ektar film.
Myoshinji Temple is a large temple complex founded in 1337 located in northwest Kyoto. The complex houses 50 sub-temples.
While the majority of the subtemples are closed to the public visitors are free to wander the vast grounds.
This temple teaches zen meditation and allows you to stay over but reservations were needed...
It took us over two hours to walk all the way around the grounds...
My favorite scene I came across....
If you keep your eye out there are a few subtemples that will let you in... Thanks for stopping by today!
