A short walk in Sydney

A short walk in Sydney

I held a photo walk yesterday  and went for a short walk in Sydney while it threaten to rain.  It was gray and dark a lot of the day with bits of blue skies poking through.  I haven’t had a lot of time to explore Sydney so it was nice to get out in the city and see what Sydney has to offer…

Out my hotel window

We met up on the steps of the Sydney Oprah House…  About 15 people braved the confusing weather and joined me for a short walk around Sydney.

..and the weather was confusing.   Gray skies in one direction and bright blue in the other.

Lots of street performers by the water front…I was getting some glowing around his head from some reason?  chromatic aberration or ??

Aussie Police…  I wonder if there is an Aussie version of COPS.  I bet that would be a cool show.

These are great, lovely bokeh as well. It almost seems like the bokeh just melts away even in those night shot. Great set.

    Cheers,
    Jorge

Second last shot is quite nice :)
Didn’t hear anything about the walk, otherwise I would’ve loved to come and meet new photographers.

    Again, great shots!
    Phill.

Hey Dave, great pics, i wanted to meet u but I live in Melbourne, oh well. About the Aussie version of cops, we don’t have a show like that, but we have one about the police force and recruits that join it called “Recruits” however they haven’t played that show in a long time. It would be cool to have an Aussie version of cops, who knows maybe they will. Great set of photos.

Nice pics, I love that VW bus – so cool!!! Nice Shoot Tokyo stickers as well, actually I think I want to buy one of the t-shirts but am unsure about size. Are your M sizes Japanese M or American M?

  • Anton

I have never seen the most amazing photos like these! :) Unfortunately, I didn’t travel to Sydney anytime, but after your short tour through this city… well, I guess :))

  • http://www.shoottokyo.com Dave

Thanks Ben. They are US sized and they don’t run big. I sometimes wear an XL and sometimes and L, in this shirt I am an XL.

  • Dominic

Great shots as always, Dave. Was good fun meeting you and walking around. Hope to see you some time again soon.

    Ahem, *Opera* House. :)

Lovely shots, especially like the wedding one. I agree the second-to-last is a winner – I hope they get it in their wedding album.

Very nice last shot of bride and the prior shot of the couple (though I’d crop more off the left- too busy over there). Like the Wait Here sign as well. Isn’t this the second wedding you’ve run into on your recent photo walks? Oh, and those “no photos” signs don’t apply to your cute little camera, of course :)

Carlos – Did Oprah buy it? Anyways… I like the wedding shot as well. I gave them my card and said I would pass along the image if they emailed me.

  • http://obliqueexposure.wordpress.com/ Carlos Ferreira

    Dave,

Oh dear me, is there anything Oprah hasn’t bought yet? 😉

I do hope that couple emails you. They’re not going to get a better shot, I don’t think.

  • Matthew Humphreys

Some really good shots there. Any chance of you possibly coming to Belfast, Northern Ireland some day?

  • http://www.shoottokyo.com Dave

Matthew – No plans at this point but who knows…

  • Mark

I like the story going on in the “old school” photo! Looks like the walk was a success.

  • Charles

I love the bride at the portal shot and also the wedding party cruising down the street. Very dynamic. How about Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on your maybe someday list? Lots to shoot up here. I enjoy your blog.

  • Kurt

Spewing I didn’t know about this a few days ago I would have loved to join in. And there is an Aussie cops it’s called ‘The Force’, it mainly shows New South Wales and Western Australian police

  • http://www.shoottokyo.com Dave

I’ll be back again Kurt and will host another one. Look out for the post.

  • http://www.shoottokyo.com Dave

Charles…maybe one day. I don’t have plans at this moment but I have learnt to never say never.

Love the photos, i live about 2hrs inland of Sydney it’s always so interesting to a city you know so well through someone else’s eyes.

  • Matthew Humphreys

Thanks for replying Dave. You would receive a warm welcome in Belfast, Northern Ireland if you were to visit. Not only is there interesting places to photograph in Belfast, but beyond and outside Belfast there are many other interesting places to photograph as well. There is the Giant’s Causeway on the north coast, the famous The Dark Hedges in Armoy which is not far from the Giant’s Causeway. There is Dunluce Castle as well. Plenty of great photographic opportunities Dave.
