Why did you unfriend me?

Why did you unfriend me?

I recently just did a big clean up and separating of my social media accounts. I have had a few people ask me this week 'Why did you unfriend me?' so I thought I would take a moment and explain what I did. My personal Facebook become full of people that I didn't know other than online or very casually through photography. I didn't do a good job when I started out with ShootTokyo of sending people to my Facebook page. It became difficult to share personal achievements with my family, family photos with my family around the world and it difficult see their updates in the stream with everybody else on my personal Facebook account. I know there are things I could do to organize everyone better but really I didn't want the administrative hassle of needing to organize everything. I have enough to do in my life.

I limited my personal Facebook account to my very close friends and family. Think: people who know my wife, have been to my house, know my mobile number and connect with me on a personal level. I limited down to about 25 people or so.

I am still super available on social media:

ShootTokyo Facebook Page: Where I post links to ShootTokyo posts and other rambling about photography

Twitter: Rambling throughout my day and share interesting news stories I come across

Google+: Post lots of big images

Instagram: Pictures of food and cameras (mostly of Mabudofu)

LinkedIn: Connect with business connections and old co-workers

Anyways, if you were wondering if you got unfriended this was my intention.  I still love everyone but need to compartmentalize my life a little more.  You might want to try cleaning up your social media a bit.  It is very liberating!
