A day in Tokyo

A day in Tokyo

When I got back from Jakarta last week I just crashed.  I took off a few days and didn't do much of anything.  I had big ambitions to do a few blog posts and shoot a few videos but I ended up doing basically nothing.   I was really tired after all of my travel.   Sunday was dedicated to photography...more on that in a minute. Monday was a cram session for the release of ShootTokyo: The Book which was released on Tuesday.   I needed to make sure all of my shipping addresses were sorted, my eBook and Digital Image Pack were finalized.    The book looks even better than I expected.  It is exactly what I wanted.  It was a very long project but something that I feel very proud that I have accomplished.   You can get a preview of the book on my YouTube Channel.

I am really excited to see what people think.  Once you get your book please take a photo of it in your environment (i.e. house, office, bookshelf, on your table with a glass of wine) and Tweet or Post to Facebook with the #shoottokyo so I can find it.

The eBook and Digital Image Pack has been released to everyone who backed my Kickstarter Project.  I have signed about 250 books and they have started shipping.  I am signing the remaining books this evening.   For those that missed the Kickstarter Project everything is available in my ShootTokyo Store.  I am personally using the image pack as my MacBook Air wall paper and screen savers.

So back to Sunday...  I haven't had a chance to go out shooting in Tokyo for a while now so Sunday was dedicated to photography.   It was nice to have a day in Tokyo that I am able to dedicate just to my photography.  Rocco who was kind enough to be one of the seven big backers on my Kickstarter Project was in town and we first caught up for long lunch and then a personal photo tour of Tokyo.

We started off in Ginza.  I am an Audi guy myself so not a huge fan of Mercedes but this new AMG looks great...

I love that the streets are closed and we can walk around in Ginza.  For some reason I wasn't feeling very inspired in Ginza on Sunday.   It was one of those moments where I just wasn't feeling or seeing any shots.   Nothing is worse than wanting to shoot but feeling uninspired.  We tried it a bit longer...

We decided to hop the train to Ebisu and see if we could find some inspiration.   Luckily there was a matsuri going on...

Meet Rocco!  He makes video games...   I meet the coolest people through my blog!

Photo Tip:  When taking someone's photo on a train and they are holding the handrails make sure they are holding the same ones on each side or they end up with one huge arm or Rocca actually has a disproportionally large left arm.  I can't remember which one.

We decided to head off to Shinjuku's Yakitori Alley.  One of my favorite places to shoot and eat...
