Jul 5 One Friday Night in Tokyo

Readers of ShootTokyo often drop me emails when they are coming to Tokyo to see if I want to meet up and go shooting. I don't get to do this nearly as often as I want do as my personal and professional life can be pretty demanding. I really wish I could accommodate all of the requests but sometimes my life is just far too busy. One of my regular readers Len was in town and happened to catch me at the right time. He was also very flexible with his schedule which I really appreciated so one Friday night after work I got to get out and shoot a little bit him with.

They were kind enough to meet me in Marunochi and we explored the area for a while...

I probably wasn't the best company was this was the night I was waiting for my new job offer to come in. I was pretty distracted and constantly checking my phone. I'm surprised I got any photos at all...

I visited my printer earlier this week to review some test prints to ensure the color and saturation was what I was hoping for. The initial paper I choose didn't give me exactly what I wanted. I realize I have a lot of black in my photos and the images didn't have the blackness I wanted. I ended upgrading to a different paper and the images look amazing. The paper is really thick and is going to make an awesome book. It was so good to see them printed to this quality.

We looked at lots of different materials for the cover as well and finally agreed on the black material and inks we will use to cover the book.

There was a famous photographer named Koji Onaka there as well. He joined the conversation and gave some advice on my book. I listened to him as he has created 20 books himself!
