Nice to be back home

It's nice to be back home after so long on the road.  I was able to get out last weekend for a little bit with my Hasselblad.   There is something so satisfying about the 'thunk' sound the shutter makes.   It is a great way to get out and relax for a little while on the weekends. I was inspired to shoot some film after my friend David send me Johnny Patience's latest article on metering for film.   I decided to get out and shoot some of my favorite local familiar places.

Today's Configuration: Hasselblad 501cm with a Carl Zeiss Planar 80mm shot on Portra 400

I don't understand some of the businesses in Japan.  This one sells sauces.  Perhaps I don't understand the economics of the business.   Let's assume rent is $5,000 a month and another $5,000 for their overhead for staff, electricity, etc.   Bottles of sauces are 800 yen.  Let's assume a 100% market up so they make 400 yen (or $4) per bottle.     You would have to sell 2,500 bottles of sauce just to cover your monthly expenses.

A lovely lunch with Mayumi at my favorite News Cafe.  I love this place.
