Jet Lag

Jet Lag

I flew from Tokyo to LA yesterday.  I'm really good at sleeping on planes.  I can get on the plane and almost instantly fall asleep and wake up when the plane lands at my destination hours later. I hear horror stories from friends and colleagues who can't sleep on 17 hour flights.  I feel lucky that my body is wired this way.  I was concerned when I got on my flight this time as a couple with a baby sat down next to me. The baby was super active so I was preparing for a very long flight but thankfully this baby and I share the same sleeping super power.  We both slept like babies.

When I arrive somewhere I try to stay up pretty late the first day in hopes to try to sleep throughout the night.   A lot of people head to the hotel and take a nap when they arrive.  I don't.  I get right to work or do some shopping.

I did a bit of both this time.  I stayed up until 10:45PM last night and sure enough I'm wide awake at 1:40AM.  I tried everything I could fall back sleep.  After 2 hours of staring at the ceiling I decided to do some work.   It's 4:36AM now.  Jet lag is a nasty thing.  Hopefully I'll be able to sleep for an hour or two before I need to get up.

We did some shooting in Yakitori Alley in Shinjuku.  There is so much happening in these little passageways.   I could just walk up and down for hours.

This couple was visiting from Jakarta.   They were taking engagement photos around Shinjuku.

We headed over to Golden Gai.   There was a fire earlier in the week so it was still roped off and being guarded by the police.  There are 100s of bars stacked on top of each other accessible via very narrow stairways.   The fire happened during the day but I can't imagine if this happened in the evening.   Thankfully the Photographer's Bar was OK.

Thank You all for the great feedback on the new site.  I'm really happy that people like it.   It was a massive undertaking that seems to have paid off.  I'm super motivated to post more as I'm loving the look and feel of the site and really enjoy using the site.   A few more sleepless nights in LA and then back to Tokyo.

Be well.
