Monks around Siem Reap
More photos from my trip through Vietnam and Cambodia last April. We stayed in the town of Siem Reap about 5 miles from Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Bayon Temple. I enjoyed photographing the Monks around Siem Reap. I am always surprised when I speak about this trip how many people ask me what or where Angkor Wat is. A quick lesson on Angkor Wat. It is a UNECSO World Heritage Site in Cambodia. It is one of the most important archeological sites in South East Asia and contains the remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the 15th centuries making it ~1,000 years old. At its prime Angkor Wat was thought to be home to close to 1 million people. It is also the temples that Laura Croft went to at the end of Tomb Raider (this usually connects the dots for people).
We had a great guide who took us to some smaller temples a little off the beaten path which enabled us to get some great photos of some buddhist monks. I'll put up some photos from some of the larger templates in the next week or so.
Thanks for stopping by today...
