12 hours a day
I have been working 12 hours a day, everyday, for a month settling into my new job. This is just part of starting a new job. Personally I work the best when I am extremely busy so I am really enjoying it but I am looking forward to taking a rest this weekend and spending some time with my family. I need the downtime. I had to run out to Shibuya last weekend to run an errand and happened to be reading Twitter on the the train. I learned there was a gathering of 170,000 people protesting the restart of a few nuclear reactors and their march happened to be crossing my path. I love living in a big city...always subject matter for me to shoot.
Nuclear power has become a widely and very publicly debated topic after the nuclear disaster following last year's magnitude 9.0 earthquake.
I caught a few of the protests last year:
原発いらない! We don't need nuclear power.
I think the Tokyo Police lost control of the last few protest and were not able to contain the crowds. This time they broke all of the people marching into groups of about 100 or so and the ending place for the protest was a very small park that you could only stay for a few minutes before they were hurrying you along. I think the ending point is where they lost control in the last few. Look at my links about and you'll see the size of the crowds that formed. Their approach this time effectively emasculated the protest taking much of the energy out of it.
Very organized protesting...
I love this watch ad... I have seen this in a few train stations and just love it.
I have been searching for a new watch for a few years now as I had a very specific look I wanted. I finally settled on the Blanc Pain Aqua Lung. It was exactly what I wanted. Simple and understated. Then it took me a year to find one...
A concession stand at a Japanese movie theater.... sort of like what I am used to from the states.
This is my life lately.... ride the train to and from work but always time for photography.
I couldn't image lugging a comic book of that size on the train every day...
I always love how there are four grown men fast asleep in the seats reserved for the handicapped, elderly and pregnant women that magically wake up as the train arrives at the station...
Now this makes me laugh... I work in Roppongi Hills which is a mega complex of offices, shops, restaurants, and bars. It's competition just a few blocks away is Tokyo Midtown. As you come off the subway there is an exit for Roppongi Hills and a separate one for Midtown. The entire way up from the subway heading to Roppongi Hills is advertising for Midtown. I love it...
Strange that they are so against miniature schnauzers...
Going up...
The view from my desk... I can see my office off in the distance.
Raw cabbage... only in Japan. Yummy.
Choices, choices, choices...
This was the smokey restaurant...
Thanks for stopping by today...
