A busy start to the week
When I was in Sydney last week I didn't get much chance to get out and shoot. I was able to capture this shot of Darlin Harbor out of my hotel window. I have one more trip for the year and then I am done. I have a red eye to Singapore on Sunday and a red eye to Sydney on Thursday. I'll be happy when my travel is done for the year... Today's configuration: Leica M Monochrom with various Leica lenses
I mentioned in my previous post that when I got to back to Tokyo my Narita Express train back to Tokyo was delayed.
This is Tokyo. This doesn't happen. Something is off. There is a glitch in the matrix. Alert the others...
This is what you want to stand and stare at for 30 minutes after 20 hours of commuting...
Finally fast and efficient transport back to the mega city at 130 kilometers an hour!
10PM and I'm back in Shingawa. Just in time to fight my way through a crowd of drunken salarymen coming from year end parties. I left my hotel in Sydney at 2:45AM Japan Time...
I had an early start to Monday and met up with a visitor from the US at Ebisu Station to commute into Marunochi together. I arrived early so I had a chance to shoot around a bit.
It's almost time for Kentucky Fried Christmas. As I get this question a lot this time of year here is the background story of 'Kurisumasu ni wa Kentakkii’ campaign from KFC.
Meet Scott! He was in town this week from San Francisco. He has also been encouraging me to post more here on ShootTokyo. He set my quota to twice a week so thank him if you see more posts coming again on ShootTokyo...
I have been trying to find a new regular sushi place now that I am in Marunochi. I had great regular places when I worked in Roppongi and Shijuku but haven't found my sushi groove yet in Marunochi...
My friend Denise and her brother Dan were in town from San Francisco as well. We met up on Monday for a little camera shopping at Lemon Camera in Ginza. It is scary that it is so close to my office. Very dangerous for me...
The world is so small and connected. I was introduced to Denise through my friend Ivan who I met up with in San Francisco last month for lunch and a bit of shooting. We were chatting over lunch about work. They both work for the very cool photography company SmugMug. I got Ivan into Leica cameras and in turn he got Denise into them. It turned out that Denise was speaking at a panel at my company's conference how SmugMug uses our products.
Like a good Marketeer she is now speaking to me on how I should be using SmugMug. You may see a new portfolio site coming from me soon...
This is a very Ginza scene... Very cool car.
After a bit of shooting we headed to Gompachi for dinner. This is always a good choice when you have visitors in Tokyo. This is the famous restaurant that Quentin Tarantino recreated for the bit fight scene in Kill Bill. If you haven't seen that movie yet stop reading and watch it...
Great good and great atmosphere...
Scott and Denise...
Dan and I... We are like twins!
We decided to shoot a bit more in Shibuya after dinner...
Shibuya is always busy, even on Monday night...
Biker...
We were helping Denise with getting comfortable with stopping people to take their photo.
I love this girls hat. It said 'Only God can judge me'... I always wonder if people know what their clothes say. Often they do not...
Start Tuesday... I had a 8:30Am meeting at the Tokyo American Club so I was a bit later than usual. Sometimes when I look at these crowded platforms I just want to turn around and go home...
Thanks for stopping by today...
