Around Jiyugaoka
I haven't had nearly enough time to shoot lately. I have been far to busy at work and traveling a ton. I tried to get out last Sunday but ended up getting rained out. This is when having a SLR is handy. I used to take my Canon 5D out in a typhoon and didn't worry. I'm not sure I would trust what little, if any, weather proofing my Leicas may have. I am on my way to the airport now as I write this en route Scottsdale, Arizona. I will have an afternoon free when I arrive so I hope I am able to get out for a few hours of shooting. I have never been there so I am looking to explore a new city.
I picked up some bagels at my favorite Jiyugaoka Bake Shop the other day. There is something so simple and so delicious about bagels...
Today's Configuration: Portra 160 film shot on Leica M6s with a Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 and Summicron 28mm f/2.0.
I was able to get out for a few hours the other with my friend David for a little shooting. Have a look and see how he captured the afternoon... He is a big fan of Raggedy Ann as you can see.
People park their bikes anywhere in Tokyo...
I love ramen but just wish it was a little healthier for you. It's not so I don't eat it very often.
OK chickens you have been warned...
I love cutting through my local shrine when I head to Starbucks in the morning...
Free fortunes for kids...
My favorite weekend of the year is when this quite town and my local shrine come alive for the annual matsuri... It runs on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is the 'big day' but I had other plans but David and I were able to capture some of the Saturday festivities.
I tried to warn the chickens... Tokyo is a dangerous place. Chickens just don't listen...
Fish Sticks! Just like at elementary school...
There was a small mastsuri going on in honor of Tokyo's bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games. Since they have won and I am very excited that they are coming to Tokyo!
When I got to these festivals I prefer to shoot the crowds vs. the main event.... It's always more interesting to me.
This summer has been extremely h0t and this misting fan provided some much needed relief for people passing by... I usually shoot on the way to and from work but it has been so hot this summer I really haven't been motivated during my commute. I am really looking forward to the end of the summer heat this year.
These kids were having a great time leading the crowd...
Thanks for stopping by today...
