Photographing the moon
I was walking home from running an errand and thought the moon looked especially beautiful this evening. Photographing the moon is something that I have always wanted to know how to do but never gave it a real try and tonight seemed like a good night to start so I ran in and grabbed my gear. I have to say while not perfect I am very pleased with my first attempt. I took several others but ultimately went with the first shot.
It was much easier than I expected. Here are the settings I used:
200mm f2.8 with a 1.4 teleconverter
ISO 400
1/350 sec
f 4.0
I used a tripod and remote shutter release. Next time I will try it with mirror lock as well as I think I can get a sharper edge on the moon.
There will be a full moon next week so I will practice a few more times to work on my moon photography. If you haven't tried before give it a try. I think I found another new aspect of photography that I will end up really enjoying. Hope you will too.
