2 Jikai
2 Jikai (ni-ji-kai)...the After Party. It is very common when you go out to eat in Japan in a group you can get a 'set' menu that is called 'Tabehodai Nomihodai". It is all you can eat and all you can drink and is typically limited to 2 hours so often people continue on in a smaller group to what is called 2 Jikai. Due to the cost of weddings in Japan many people hold a 2 Jikai where they invite their extended network of friends...but before we got to 2 Jikai here are a few shots from the wedding in digital...
Here is my wedding speech as I was getting ready...
Today's configuration: Leica M9-P, mostly with my Noctilux 50mm f/0.95
I love the simplicity of the meals they were serving...
The father walked around and poured everyone a beer to thank them for coming...
Cheers!
Icons of Japan - Canon and the Kimono...
I gave my wife a photo of our son that I had shot on film and she said to me "This is really nice, what did you do differently to it?". I always try to explain to people how film has a very different feeling to it and it is a look, feeling that I don't believe you to produce digitally. I am not saying that one is better than the other as I like and use both but depending on the look you want to achieve one may be better than the other. Have a look at the two images below. The one on the left was shot with my M9 Digital and the one on the right shot with my Leica M6J film camera.
There was a two hour break between the wedding and 2 Jikai so we did what you do when you have a break...continue drinking.
Selective focus... 'Beer'
So 2 Jikai is basically a repeat of your wedding just more casually...
...and clearly more casual dress is appropriate.
They showed some videos from the wedding...
I even got into the shot...
More speeches...
...and more cake!
There was some sort of game show style game that I didn't understand...
He ended up winning...
After 9 hours of wedding and drinking it was time to head home...
Thanks for stopping by today...
