Exploring Ginza
After Shibuya I spent some time exploring Ginza. There is always so much going on in the streets. I really enjoy walking around Ginza and seeing all the activity. On the days they close the streets it is perfect for street photography. Even when they don't it is so full of personalities that you will find interesting things to shoot and observe. This monk used to hang out in Shibuya but seems he migrated to Ginza...
Today's configuration: Leica M9-P with the Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 and Summilux 21mm f/1.4
Meet Nathan...
He was in town from Singapore and joined me for some shooting. Check out Nathan's kickass photography in his blog.
Meet Cameron...
A fellow American in Tokyo. He runs the Film Shooters Collective and joined me as well...
I love walking around and shooting in Ginza. I love the light in Ginza... There is something about it. At the right times of the day the tall building block most direct sunlight giving you nice even lighting for shooting. You just need to make sure you are on the right end of Ginza as when one end is nice and even lighting the other end is harsh and direct.
If you are going to go to Prada you better do it in a gold trimmed Rolls Royce or not at all...
I was getting some wicked lens flare late in the day as I was walking right towards the sun...
This little dog hated me. Every time I walked by he tried to eat me!
How many police does it take to give directions? Apparently 3...
The look. Thankfully I got a smile after...
Don't worry it isn't an outbreak...
I can only walk past a camera store so many times. For me it's like staring into the sun. I started just teasing the sales guy a little bit with a negotiation but he responded very favorably so I decided it was best to go for it and picked up my new Hasselblad. I have been eyeing one for years but never really knew what I was looking at. Thankfully Cameron did and give me great advice.
I am running a photography contest on my Facebook Page where the subject is your favorite camera. Not sure this was a good idea for me. I now have two new cameras on my wish list: a Hasselblad SWC 905 and a Plaubel Makina 67. Add yours and you can win a ShootTokyo T-Shirt bundle and maybe add some more cameras to my wish list.
Nathan's beautiful wife Sherry joined us for a little bit of the shopping...
Thanks for stopping by today...
