The Kanji Master
After a great bowl of Ramen in Kitakata I stopped off to visit a Kanji Master and have him draw my son's kanji. I haven never been to a Kanji Master before so I didn't know what to expect... Today's Configuration: Leica M9-P with a Nocitlux 50mm f/0.95 and a Ricoh GR

My smiley NHK Camera Man...

He let me know he was going to write my son Kai's kanji today and a few previous versions as the kanji evolved over time...

The first kanji is Kai from 3,200 years ago. It initially meant deep dark lake. Later it migrated to ocean and ending on deep far reaching ocean about 2,500 years ago. The last kanji is the kanji used today for 'Kai'. You can see it also incorporates the kanji for mother and the kanji for dark as 'Mama' works from morning to night to take care of him. It's such a good fitting kanji for our Kai.

Interesting visit. Thanks for stopping by today...
