The Sony A7s
Last week I finally got the Sony A7s for shooting video. I posted my first video on my ShootTokyo YouTube Channel. It isn't perfect but it wasn't meant to be. I am going to learn to shoot video and share it (mistakes and all) on YouTube Channel so feel free to follow along. I am still figuring out what I want to do with my channel but I expect it will be a mix of shooting scenes around Tokyo, stopping and interviewing people, some Vlogs of me talking to the camera, some reviews of my gear and some hangouts on air talking about photography. I just posted up my first Vlog this morning!
I looked at a log of cameras to decide on the A7s. There were a couple of things that finally made me decide on this camera.
- I can use my Leica lenses with a Metabones adapter which means I don't need to invest in all new lenses and I can keep the camera setup small.
- It is full frame so I get the full benefit of the wide fast lenses I have invested in.
- I can also use as a camera so I can replace my Leica bodies while traveling so I can shoot video and still pictures.
I'm on the bus to Narita now heading to Mumbai and Singapore so looking forward to see what I am able to capture with this. Here is my first images with my A7s...
Today's Configuration: Sony A7s with a Leica Summicron 28mm f/2.0
Shinjuku Station...
Shibuya...
The one really be benefit of this camera is high ISO capability. This was shot at 10,000 ISO! The image is still incredibly clean.
I am still trying to decide if I like the color or if I am going to need to edit a bit in post processing.
When I said his camera is amazing with ISO that is an understatement. This was shot in a pitch black movie theater at 409,600! While this image is very noisy and you won't practically shoot with this you can image the possibilities like shooting shooting street photography at f/18 on a dark afternoon or even in the evening. You can get great depth of field and high shutter speed freezing power.
Thanks for stopping by today...
