Tsuragajo Castle
I got back last night from Fukushima. I haven't gotten a chance to drive my new S5 all that much so it was nice to have a nice 600km trip to get my car out on the open road and stretch it's legs a little bit. Fukushima is about 260km or so from my house in Tokyo. It took about 3.5 hours to get up there. I think I need to go on my more road trips...
The second in my series for my ShootFukushima project. After Ouchijuku we stopped at Yunokamionsen Station. It is old little train station. Trains arrive about once an hour so there isn't a lot to do so they have an onsen hot spring that you can soak your feet in while you wait for the station.
I just caught a glimpse of this rainbow with my lens this shot...
It was fun to watch the reaction of the Japanese people at what I stopped to take a photo of. I thought this building was interesting so I snapped a photo but they all couldn't understand what I was taking a photo of until they saw it.
Next we headed to Aizu-Wakamatsu Castle, aka, Tsurugajo Castle is a concrete replica of a traditional Japanese castle. The castle sustained heavy damage in 1868 during the Boshin War and was ultimately demolished in 1874. The current structure was rebuild in 1965.
That wasn't the castle...this is.
People in Tokyo could learn a thing or two about bike parking from Fukushima...

...and of course time for interviews with NHK at the end. After a while I just got use to them being there and didn't really notice. I was initially very embarrassed at first. I am not use to this...
I explored the little temple at the entrance for a little while as well...
