Let the Ohanami begin!
Let the Ohanami begin! I took a walk down by Meguro River in Nakameguro yesterday evening to see if the Cherry Blossoms were beginning to bloom. The river will be lined with people enjoying the Cherry Blossoms in what the Japanese call Hanami, or 'OHanami if you want to show respect to the Cherry Blossoms, all this week and next. Hanami is the Japanese custom of enjoying the beauty of flowers and 'flower' in this case always means Cherry Blossoms or Sakura. The streets in Nakameguro basically turn into one big outdoor Party. It is a lot of fun to walk around and perfect for street photography. I love to go and see the Cherry Blossoms at night which is called Yozakura. These lanterns are all lite up at night so you can enjoy Yozakura with a bit of light. Last Year it was in complete darkness due to Power Savings after the Earthquake.
...and they were!
A few people getting an early start on the 'Ohanami'...
Look for more Ohanami later this week... Thanks for stopping by today.
