Exploring Ginza

After Shibuya I spent some time exploring Ginza.   There is always so much going on in the streets.  I really enjoy walking around Ginza and seeing all the activity.   On the days they close the streets it is perfect for street photography.

A short walk in Shibuya

I really enjoyed the down time at the end of the year.  I got so much time for shooting that I have a nice backlog of images to share with you here.  I got 10 rolls of film back from the lab yesterday.  I have a busy weekend of scanning and selecting to do for future

Dinner at Nobu Tokyo

Do you have one of those restaurants that you eat at and as soon as you finish the meal you want to go there again?   For me that place is Nobu Tokyo.     I have dubbed this place ‘The yummiest place on earth‘… I was lucky enough to have dinner there

The Card Shop

I was speaking to my wife the other week and she mentioned that my photos would make great cards.   She wanted a set of cards of my favorite shot of the Geisha in Kyoto that she could use when she writes notes to her friends.   I ended up ordering a few other boxes as

Perspective

One thing I love about  Japan is how it shuts down completely for the week around New Years.  Jiyugaoka turns into a ghost town for a day or two and slowly beings to wake up a the year starts.    Most employees at companies have off from the 27th to the 6th.

Year of the Horse

Welcome Year of the Horse!   I can’t believe it is 2014 already.   I remember being a kid and 2020 seemed so far away but now it is only 6 years away.    Thank You for everyone who came to visit ShootTokyo and engage with me over the past few years.

A long year

I feel like this year has gone on forever.    I think I have accomplished a lot this year and have areas I want to continue to improve. The goals I set out for myself for 2013 were: #1 Be a student of photography #2 Improve my technical skills as a photographer #3

A busy end to the week

My week continued extremely busy.   I feel like I never ever stop.   People always comment to me that they don’t know how I am able to maintain my blogging and shooting schedule.  I find that the busier I am the more I am able to accomplish.

A busy start to the week

When I was in Sydney last week I didn’t get much chance to get out and shoot.  I was able to capture this shot of Darlin Harbor out of my hotel window.    I have one more trip for the year and then I am done.   I have a red eye to Singapore on Sunday and a red

A creature of habit

I’m a creature of habit.   I am happy to do the same things, read the same type books, watch the same TV shows, eat at the same places, go to the same places with the same people.   I have been trying to mix it with up my photography lately and shoot more film

Another roll down

I got a bit lazy and haven’t been shooting film as much as I wanted lately so I have been making a concerted effort to shoot more film.   I am really pleased with the results I am seeing and just a few rolls later I am reminded why I love the look of film

On the road again

I’m back on the road again.  I am sitting at Narita Airport waiting for my red eye flight to Sydney.   I can’t count how many red eye flights I have taken this year.  Actually I probably can but I prefer not to.

Beautiful Jiyugaoka Morning

My friend Steve was in town with his wife Laura from Taipei this weekend.   I had a little free time this morning and I was able to catch up with them for photowalk around Jiyugaoka.   It was great to see them.  I need to head to Taipei for a weekend of photography
